Title:
hplip fails on photosmart7760
Status in HPLIP:

Status in hplip package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Binary package hint: hplip
When using hplip to print to my photosmart7760 printer, I usually see a lot
of USB related failures in my system log:
[ 1246.230135] usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address
16
[ 1261.350104] usb 3-1: device descriptor read/64, error -110

[ 1261.830105] usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address

[ 1262.250095] usb 3-1: device not accepting address 17, error -71
[ 1262.370097] usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address

[ 1262.790100] usb 3-1: device not accepting address 18, error -71
[ 1262.790138] hub 3-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
[ 1434.870103] usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address

This only happens when I use the hplip/hpijs drivers. After removing
those drivers, CUPS can print just fine. Windows also works fine, so
I suspect a bug in the hplip driver is crashing the printer somehow
preventing it from working.
I think I've heard reports of this upstream, but it's hard to navigate
the hplip site so I can't be sure if this is fixed in a new release or
not.
Anyway this is obviously very frustrating, since it means a stock
Karmic install will have major trouble with printing against HP
printers like this one. I'm happy to test any new hpijs/hplip
packages as needed.
