It appears you don't have the official Nvidia driver installed, which
should avoid the problem. Please try installing it:

GPU Overheats and laptop shuts off

Bug description:
I use Toshiba Satellite A505-S6033 laptop. I fresh installed ubuntu
18.04 on my system and ever since the upgrade the GPU heats up and the
laptop shuts off in about 10minutes. fFurthermore the display freezes,
and system temperature is constantly high.
Previously I Used to Ubuntu 14.04 & 16.04 without any problems.
