I have been able to get around this by using the nouveau.modeset=0 to
boot the liveusb and get Ubuntu 18.04 installed, however there is still
the compatibility issue of nouveau to a GTX1050

Title:
Nouveau preventing 18.04 live from booting

Status in xserver-xorg-video-nouveau package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I am attempting to do a clean install of Ubuntu 18.04 on a new server
(Supermicro X10DRH-iLN4) with an NVidia GTS 1050. It currently has
14.04 desktop installed and it installs/works without issues. I am
using a live USB stick with either desktop 18.04, 18.04.01 or server
18.04.01 and no matter what happens I get the following error:

[3.244017] nouveau 0000.81.00.0: bus: MMIO read of 00000000 FAULT at
  122124 [IBUS].

After this error shows, I an unable to proceed further and a reboot is
necessary so I am unable to do the below reporting.

Not sure how to proceed or fix this issue.
