black screen at start up

Bug description:
i have this issue often, about 99% of the time i can get it to happen
at the login screen if i don't log in with in about 10 seconds my
screen goes black and i can not get it to come back and i need to do a
hard reboot. also sometimes the issue happens during boot up the
screen goes purple for a few seconds then black and stay's like that
and the can't get it to comes back and have to do a hard reboot, but
this happens about 1 or 2 times out of ten boots i would say. so i'm
hoping that this issue can be resolved in some way.
