Doesn't look like a bamf bug though. If previous versions were working then something broke in the application level. Make sure the app is setting the app id and name properly.

I'm using 18.10, and I also tried Plank. A Quod Libet developer confirmed the issue as well in Unity on 16.04. AFAICT, these three docks all use bamf. Since all earlier versions of Quod Libet work fine, I posted a bug with them (https://github.com/quodlibet/quodlibet/issues/3029), but there are no reports of any issue with it from other docks/shells, like GNOME Shell or Plasma, so maybe it's a bug with bamf?
