Thank you for your bug report, that's a bit weird that you could remove
colord though since that's a depends of gnome-control-center
Could you give the output of those commands?
- dpkg -l | grep colord
- dpkg -l | grep gnome-control-center
- dpkg -S org.freedesktop.ColorHelper
the title is also misleading, the error indicates a missing schemas
which is a file on disk, having the service not active doesn't prevent
g-c-c to start

the gnome-control-center should not fail/abort without colord, but
just show up a message like it does when network-manager is not
installed for wifi settings:
$ gnome-control-center
