HP all_in_one scanner doesnt work out of the box

Bug description:
Binary package hint: hplip
I've installed ubuntu and it recognized my HP all-in-one Hp-380f. But
it only worked as printer, when I tryed to use d]the scanner it
presented me with a screen box sayng:
Device: //xpto//qwerty/.... is locked.
Error of I/O.
. So I've downloaded and installed the lattest drivers from HPLIP
site for my printer/scanner and installed them, and then, the second
printer(in the printer box) AND the sccaner worked perferct.
You guys should check why this behavior with ubuntu hplip packages....
