Main user account fails gdm3 - upgrade to Beaver 18.04

Bug description:
Just upgraded 16.04.1 LTS to Bionic Beaver 18.04.1 LTS
Upgraded from a non-admin user login using 'sudo', now that user fails GDM
login.
All other users, some admin - some not, work fine.
On failing user mouse cursor locks at last position after clicking on 'login'.
Computer Hard-Locks...
All other users, pointer jumps to lower right quad of screen and login
proceeds.
Same lockup when switching to that failing user via User-Switch menu.
