Description: gnome-terminal displays three additional characters,
probably line ending /r/n, which it should not display.

Locale is de_DE.UTF-8
The bug appears regardless of locale, encoding (UTF8, iso-8859-15) or
font.
The TERM variable is "xterm", GNU screen is not used.
The bug does not appear on xterm, it does not appear on an older
gnome-terminal, version 2.30.2 on Ubuntu 10.04.
