We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu and Firefox since that time.
Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported in a
currently supported version of Ubuntu? Please let us know if you do and
in which version of Ubuntu otherwise this report can be left to expire
in approximately 60 days time.
Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.

Title:
Very heavy CPU usage for Facebook in Firefox
Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
When a tab with the Facebook home page is active in Firefox, Firefox's
CPU usage shoots through the roof. It had been very bad for a while,
but recently it has got worse, now sticking at almost a constant 100%
on one core (of a 1.5GHz Core2Duo), as opposed to around 5-20% when
the page is backgrounded or closed.
I cannot reproduce this problem in Opera. I have also read reports on
forums that say this problem does not occur in Chrome.
