Title:
Nautilus 3.6 "Copy To…" error for remote targets
Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
In Nautilus 3.6, the "extra pane" has been removed. This has been
filed as a bug separately (bug #1173648), but it appears the upstream
developers are adamant about not reintroducing it, the pleas of users
notwithstanding. So, I am trying to learn the new, intended workflow.
That other bug links to an upstream discussion
(https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=683048) where one comment
reads: "Folders open in other windows are added to the sidebar of the
"Move to"/"Copy to" dialogs for quick access." From this I understand
that the new, intended workflow is to open multiple windows and use
the context menu Move To/Copy To dialogs.
However, this does not work for remote (network) locations.
To reproduce:
- Open a Nautilus window
- Connect to a server
- Open a second Nautilus window
- Select a local file
- In the context menu, choose "Copy To…"
- Observe that the remote directory which is open in the first Nautilus
window is available in the dialog sidebar (attached screenshot)
- Click on the remote directory in the dialog sidebar
Expected:
- The file can be copied to the remote location which is open in the other
Nautilus window
Observed:
- An error dialog reading "The folder contents cannot be displayed / Cannot
change to folder because it is not local" (second screenshot)
- The file cannot be copied in this manner
