Thank you for your attention to this bug report. It had been so long since I submitted the report that I upgraded to Lubuntu 18.04.1 in the interim. Since Lubuntu uses File Manager PCManFS rather than Nautilus,
gvfs -li
will only return
gvfs: command not found
. Since this is a production machine, I can't reinstall Ubuntu 16.04 with Unity just for troubleshooting at this late date. PCManFS has not renamed any of my external HDD file partitions in 18.04.1; perhaps this was an aberration caused by the last updates to the end-of-life-for-Unity-based 16.04 OS. Thank you again for your time.

This seems to have occurred since the last set of updates. I speculate that this may or may not have something to do with the recent 'Backups' (Deja-Dup) update within the last week, but I don't know how to verify this. I have verified the correct partition names using GParted from a Live-DVD of Ubuntu 16.04.3; the correct names do not have the appended "1" added to the partition name(s) on the external USB drive. Names appear to be correct for the internal HDD for my PC. I have attached a screenshot of Nautilus with the affected partitions displayed. I am using Ubuntu 16.04 with all updates as of this date.
