I want to confirm this bug. I'm running Xubuntu 11.10 on an Asus eeePC 900A. I wanted to conserve battery power, so I used the Network Manager Applet to turn off the wireless. That worked.
But, when I tried to re-enable the wireless, I found that the option was no longer displayed in the Network Manager Applet menu. My NM doesn't simply gray-out the "wireless" option. It actually isn't there anymore. PS: I now have no idea how to re-enable wireless on this netbook. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager-applet in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/851023 Title: "Enable Wireless" in Network Manager Applet grayed out Status in “network-manager-applet” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: In my panel, "Enable Wireless" is grey and unchecked although I have a working wireless network. It used to work correctly. But after latest update it cannot work. Besides, in System Settings => User Accounts, the "unlock" greyed, too. My account type is Administrator, in the root group.
