Title:
Audio is not switchable through Plasma widgets
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
On my convertible, there seems to be no way to adept to changing audio
drains; except of starting and re-configuring PulseAudio Volume Control.
I have a tablet, with a detachable keyboard and an external monitor with
audio. What the normal volume control offers is irrelevant at switching those.
Changing audio sources is not detected, and none of the usual controls allows
for manual adaptations except PulseAudio Volume Control.
I have attached 4 screenshots:
- The standard volume control. It is possible to control all three drains
(Devices), but it doesn't help when you disconnect.
- The PulseAudio Volume Control Configuration. Also that doesn't help.
- The PulseAudio Volume Control Playback is the only place to select to
where the audio goes. Alas, if one or even more disappear, here it is getting
stuck there. Leaving the user without sound.
- The somewhat most obvious place then is the standard volume control
(Applications). However, this works differently from the almost identical one
in PulseAudio Volume Control, in that it doesn't allow switching drains.
Instead, one can increase the volume above 100%
I do agree this bug is rather a RFE, though one that is obvious: The system
does 'know' when a drain disappears, but it is not 'intelligent' enough to
follow the still available ones. It would be natural, to allow the user to
define preferences to which one it changes.
As long as this doesn't exist, it is even more obvious to allow for that
switching through the standard volume control.
