In my instance (Xubuntu 18.10 with nvidia 415 from the graphics drivers
PPA) I was able to fix the lock screen resolution by using the
following:
Section "Files"
ModulePath "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg"
ModulePath "/usr/lib/xorg/modules"
EndSection
My system has /usr/lib/nvidia, but no xorg directory located there.
Likewise, no nvidia/xorg directory path under /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu.
There was only xorg as listed above with my corresponding nvidia
modules.
This workaround does not fix the TTY screen resolution or the Xubuntu
boot/loading spash.
