Title:
Cheese displays no image, though webcam is active

Status in cheese package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: cheese

Whenever I start cheese, the webcam light comes on, but I get no image
displayed. Earlier builds would display an image until I clicked the
effects button and upon returning from selecting effects, the image
would be gone. Now I never get an image.
