Title:
Some apps launched from gnome-shell dash don't get correct focus
Status in gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
If I launch (eg) nautilus from gnome-terminal, the address bar gets
focus so I can press CTRL-L to immediately start typing in an
directory path, and if I launch (eg) gnome-calculator from gnome-
terminal, the data entry field gets focus so I can start typing in a
calculation. This is how these apps used to work if you launched them
from ubuntu-dock or the gnome-shell dash, eg in 18.04 and 18.10 and
earlier in 19.04.
However, now in 19.04 when I launch these apps from the gnome-shell
dash or ubuntu-dock (or the latest dash-to-dock from git), I have to
click on them before I can do anything - eg typing CTRL-L in nautilus
does absolutely nothing.
Some other apps are also affected - eg if I launch gnome-terminal from
the dash, I have to click on it before I can start typing.
Not all apps are like this, though: eg with chrome and firefox I can
type CTRL-L to start typing in the address bar.
It's obviously not critical, because there's an easy workaround (click
on the app with the mouse first), but it's annoying and a regression.
