We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu and Thunderbird since that
time.
As of today in Ubuntu 19.04, installing xul-ext-lightning makes the
calendar work in thunderbird, I suspect what happened at the time this
bug was reported is that thunderbird and the lightning extension got out
of sync.
Thunderbird now ships lightning by default, so we are going to reflect
that in the packaging, meaning such a situation should never happen
again.

Bug description:
After the update of Thunderbird and Lightning from version 17 to 24,
Thunderbird does not show anymore the calendar pane or tab. All the
calendar function that should be made available from Lightning are not
available even from the menus.
It seems that Thunderbird does not realize that the Lightning add-on
is available system-wide. The add-ons pane shows that no add-ons are
installed. In the previous versions system-wide add-ons were displayed
along the others installed by the user.
