Title:
  nm-applet leaks memory

Status in network-manager-applet package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
When using the computer on a wifi network with weak connectivity or
much noise, disconnects and reconnects happen from time to time and
nm-applet consumes more and more memory without ever releasing it.
After several hours, nm-applet consumes 1.1GiB (virtual memory 2.3GiB,
shared 53.8MiB). Contrary to common claim, this is not free memory
turned useful until other applications need it, instead it is not
released and forces the computer to get out of RAM and freeze for
  minutes.

  Workaround: pkill nm-applet; nm-applet & disown
