Bug description:
  [Impact]
GNOME Software can crash when failing to get an icon from the cache:
  https://errors.ubuntu.com/problem/333736cd145e0c8722aba054d9d202310b1447f0

  [Test Case]
Run updated version on a system that is hitting the problem, observe crash no
longer occurs.

  [Regression Potential]
Low, the fix is cherry-picked from a newer branch and fixes and obvious NULL
pointer dereference.
