rhythmbox opens then closes right away, no error displayed

Bug description:
Binary package hint: rhythmbox
was working
i had used a cd/dvd cleaner disc in the dvdrw and it had trouble reading it
too
then it finally played in movie player
i took disc out
now whenever i try to open rhythmbox, it shows the screen for a second, then
it's gone, with no error
tried rebooting several times already, with and without a disc
