  gnome-system-monitor freezes during free space query on inactive
  network mounts (cifs)

  either display a waiting dialog (and optionally a button to abort the
  df call on network mounts) or fetch the free space asynchronously
  (display a "fetching..." label instead of the percentage bar while the
  retrieval is in progress)
