Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some
time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.
Your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates.
It would help us a lot if you could test on a currently supported Ubuntu
version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the
updated logs by running only once in a terminal:
apport-collect 1438011
and then change the status of the bug back to "New".
Please add any additional information that you think might be relevant.
Alternatively, please confirm that this is no longer a problem and that
we can close the bug report. If we do not hear from you this bug report
will expire in approximately 60 days time.
Thank you again

Title:
document viewer
Status in evince package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Evince has some usability issues with "locked" files:
1. When a "locked" PDF is saved, it cannot be saved to iself, as
LibreOffice does for ordinary files. This is an issue with IRS and
State of Texas filing documents. They can be edited after having been
saved, but must be manually saved to a different file and the original
file manually deleted -- a great opportunity for screwups. I suppose
that's "reasonable", but being a mere mortal, I find that I often must
edit these things, sometimes several times, before finally printing
them for submission. Keeping up with the saved versions is a real
hassle.
2. Besides being a hassle, it's a big time-waster saving an edited
locked government form. A semi-automagical renaming mechanism would
be a great help.
3. Edited PDF's are saved with the same timestamp as the source file.
This makes it more difficult to distinguish between saved versions.
It's also misleading, with potential legal repercussions for the user.
There's no way to distinguish as to when the file was actually created
in its new persona.
