If appears your laptop is configured with language LANG=en_US.UTF-8 (US
English) so that will affect the language that apps like browsers, and
perhaps some web sites, will give you.
Please change your default language settings in:
Settings > Language and Region > ...
then log out and in again.
To verify the default language has been changed, open a terminal window
(Ctrl+Alt+T) and run:
echo $LANG
** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => ubuntu
** Changed in: ubuntu

Hi,
I am a new user of Ubuntu, just arrived today on this OS and I have
planned to surf a long long time here from now on. Basically I am from
Pakistan and I read many tweets (current affairs) in my language
(URDU) on twitter and I also use my WhatsApp in the Browser so when I
am working I can talk to my contact on the same device in one browser
rather than being disturbed on my cell phone.
So I just logged into twitter and tried to read a tweet in my Language
(URDU) but unfortunately the langue is not written/shown here as it
should be. I don't know if someone else has reached out to you or not
but I am facing this problem and I am sure that your experts can
easily handle it. You can understand if I give you a book with
distorted words and phrases, just imagine it will not be easy to read
it. I hope you can improve it.
Now for a reference I also checked a local news website:
www.jang.com.pk and here the language is pretty well. Everything is
fine here. But this problem is only with Twitter. So I hope it may
help you to improve it.
