Public bug reported: After launching rhythmbox 2.90.1 in Ubuntu 11.10 (AMD64) it would show the rhythmbox screen, but it freezes for more than 10 minutes, so the loading till you can play a song takes a long time. The CPU usage goes up sharply and drops after the freeze is over. If the database is empty the starting of Ubuntu takes only seconds, but I have about 5000 titles in the database, so it takes more than 10 minutes. I had no problem in Ubuntu 10.10 (i386), rhythmbox started quickly and had no problems with the 5000 songs.
When I start rhythmbox in the terminal with "rhythmbox -d", I get the output* I have attached. I think the hanging/freezing comes from the repetitive similar line, probably 5000 times : (13:19:12) [0xd5e200] [rhythmdb_process_stat_event] rhythmdb.c:2143: not modified: file:///home/cds/Music/Christian%20Music%20English/N-P/Newsboys/Shine%20the%20Hits/Newsboys%20-%20Reality.mp3 (13:19:12) [0xd5e200] [rhythmdb_process_one_event] rhythmdb.c:2504: processing RHYTHMDB_EVENT_STAT (13:19:12) [0xd5e200] [rhythmdb_process_stat_event] rhythmdb.c:2143: not modified: file:///home/cds/Music/Christian%20Music%20English/N-P/Newsboys/Shine%20the%20Hits/Newsboys%20-%20Spirit%20Thing.mp3 (13:19:12) [0xd5e200] [rhythmdb_process_one_event] rhythmdb.c:2504: processing RHYTHMDB_EVENT_STAT (13:19:12) [0xd5e200] [rhythmdb_process_stat_event] rhythmdb.c:2143: not modified: file:///home/cds/Music/Christian%20Music%20English/N-P/Newsboys/Shine%20the%20Hits/Newsboys%20-%20God%20Is%20Not%20A%20Secret.mp3 (13:19:12) [0xd5e200] [rhythmdb_process_one_event] rhythmdb.c:2504: processing RHYTHMDB_EVENT_STAT (13:19:12) [0xd5e200] [rhythmdb_process_stat_event] rhythmdb.c:2143: not modified: file:///home/cds/Music/Christian%20Music%20English/N-P/Newsboys/Shine%20the%20Hits/Newsboys%20-%20Joy.mp3 Not sure why it does this, but perhaps somebody can help.
