I know what the problem was, I had title fonts set to be fonts-league- spartan, in gnome-tweaks (0.1 of it installed), after the upgrade to 19.10 i have (0.3 of the font installed) and for some reason the fonts were set to "None", however already running gui applications had the text still display, new apps had just the squares, also true for other gui apps, not just this snap.
However I don't get why it'd fail if I had these files before: /usr/share/fonts/opentype/league-spartan/LeagueSpartan-Bold.otf /usr/share/fonts/opentype/league-spartan/LeagueSpartan-Light.otf /usr/share/fonts/opentype/league-spartan/LeagueSpartan-Regular.otf /usr/share/fonts/opentype/league-spartan/LeagueSpartan-Semibold.otf and these afterwards: /usr/share/fonts/opentype/league-spartan/LeagueSpartan-Black.otf /usr/share/fonts/opentype/league-spartan/LeagueSpartan-Bold.otf /usr/share/fonts/opentype/league-spartan/LeagueSpartan-Extrabold.otf /usr/share/fonts/opentype/league-spartan/LeagueSpartan-Extralight.otf /usr/share/fonts/opentype/league-spartan/LeagueSpartan-Light.otf /usr/share/fonts/opentype/league-spartan/LeagueSpartan-Medium.otf /usr/share/fonts/opentype/league-spartan/LeagueSpartan-Regular.otf /usr/share/fonts/opentype/league-spartan/LeagueSpartan-Semibold.otf It's not like one is removed, just changed/updated.
