Are the files actually successfully downloaded?

If so, once the files are fully downloaded, are you able to open the
downloads view and do you see them listed there?

Could it be that you have an extension that triggers this behaviour?
Could you try restarting firefox with add-ons disabled (from the help
menu) and see if this makes any difference?
