Impress UI goes unresponsive while processing slide with an audio file

Bug description:
During a presentation, or while slide thumbnails are being generated
in the normal view, the UI becomes unresponsive when any slide that
has embedded audio is encountered. In authoring mode, the UI goes
gray. In presentation mode, the UI just freezes and encounters a long
pause before the audio is auto-player.
This does not happen with video files. I've tried both OGG and WAV audio
files, and each kind is problematic.
