the formatting cammands are intermittent in operation

Bug description:
eg
manual page break fails, in oreder to get it going again I have to reload
libre office. This problem is not limited to just 'manual page break' and is
unpredicatable.
also intermittent.. when selecting text with the mouse the screen
blanks out, it reapears on releasing the mouse button.
