The problem does not appear to happen under Wayland. I am attaching a zip file containing four sets of the output of the commands you requested spanning the time from before I plugged in the HDMI cable to afterward, waiting long enough to confirm that I was getting black screens rather than the correct behavior after plugging in the cable.
