Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better.
Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so I am marking it incomplete and suggesting you seek support. Processing triggers for man-db (2.7.5-1) ... dpkg: error processing package firefox (--configure): package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration In the description you mentioned "I found /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend was locked by dpkg when I was trying to install other app, then i killed it" which is the most likely cause of this problem. The lock is there to prevent another process from trying to install/remove/upgrade software whilst a process is already writing to that system. You killed this safety/protection system allowing corruption. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community- support/709 For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs. If you believe I'm in error, or can detail how you ensured nothing in fact was doing any updates explaining the lock, or have cleaned up the mess created, and still have the problem, please return the status to "New" leaving a comment. ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1858067 Title: package firefox 71.0+build5-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I found /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend was locked by dpkg when I was trying to install other app, then i killed it ProblemType: Package DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: firefox 71.0+build5-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-45.48~16.04.1-generic 4.15.18 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-45-generic x86_64 AddonCompatCheckDisabled: False ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.21 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: whp 2038 F.... pulseaudio BuildID: 20191202093317 Channel: Unavailable Date: Thu Jan 2 14:40:51 2020 DpkgHistoryLog: Start-Date: 2020-01-02 14:40:45 Commandline: apt install gstreamer-tools Requested-By: whp (1000) Install: libgstreamer0.10-0:amd64 (0.10.36-1.5ubuntu1, automatic), gstreamer0.10-tools:amd64 (0.10.36-1.5ubuntu1, automatic), gstreamer-tools:amd64 (0.10.36-1.5ubuntu1) DuplicateSignature: package:firefox:71.0+build5-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 Processing triggers for man-db (2.7.5-1) ... dpkg: error processing package firefox (--configure): package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should ErrorMessage: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration ForcedLayersAccel: False IfupdownConfig: # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8) auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationDate: Installed on 2019-12-11 (22 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20190227) IpRoute: default via 192.168.166.1 dev wlo1 proto static metric 600 169.254.0.0/16 dev wlo1 scope link metric 1000 192.168.166.0/24 dev wlo1 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.166.64 metric 600 NoProfiles: True PulseList: Error: command ['pacmd', 'list'] failed with exit code 1: No PulseAudio daemon running, or not running as session daemon.
