I think not displaying the amount of data being transferred is
intentional. In any case, that's a request that should be directed at
the upstream bug tracker at
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi#h=dupes%7CFirefox.

3) When a webpage loads, "Transferring data from mozilla.org..." is displayed
on the left bottom of Firefox. Could you display "Downloading xx/xxKB" on the
right bottom of Firefox?
