Whatsapp is doing user-agent detection, and blocking a valid browser for
no good reason. This is not a chromium bug. I suggest reporting this
issue to the whatsapp web team, and as a workaround you can use an
extension that impersonates a different browser, like this one:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-
for-c/djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjiklpkjnoahfmg.

Title:
Chromium is not recognized in whatsapp web

Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I'm currently using Ubuntu 20.04 daily build for testing purpose and
  install chromium browser.

Surprisingly, now chromium browser is packed as snap by default (I
didn't aware this until using 20.04). Everyting went fine, and I'm
  amazed by the good performance.

But I found an issue regarding Whatsapp Web that can't recognize
chromium-browser and ask me to use newer version of google chrome,
  firefox or opera.
