Looks like banshee actually adds the string '&cdstubs=no' to the query (at least on my system), which is obviously the reason for not being able to locate a stub. A manual query using the same string also gives no result from MusicBrainz, but removing the '&cdstubs=no' from the query returns the correct record (at least here).
