Title:
Update to 11.10 from 11.04 caused default sound to be dangerously loud
  level

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Release: 11.10

I expected the sound levels to be the same in 11.10 as in 11.04

The sound level was MUCH louder in version 11.10. Top volumes would
likely have blown out my speakers.

My computer is a 64 bit HP machine with a Realtek sound system.
