Title:
Internal mic not working since kernal 2.6.32-29

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
After installing two kernel updates (10.4 Netbook), on ASUS 1001pxd, I
have lost the internal microphone and the ability to use my external
jack (microphone and headset also my ethernet port). I have tried to
install the backports and that doesn't work. I have also tried
  reinstalling my alsa drivers.

The last time my system worked properly was with kernel 2.6.32-29.
When I reboot to that kernel everything works OK. This seems to be a
continuing problem. I get it fixed and the next kernel wipes it out.

This problem seems to effect a lot of people.

How to I fix this so that I don't have to spend so much time managing
  the software on my computer?

  Thanks
