Title:
On press of space key, lock screen got into a loop of trying to show
  the password field

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
I woke the laptop from sleep and pressed "space" key to unlock.
Computer went crazy and started a loop of trying to display the
password field. Also, there were multiple dropdowns on top of each
other for the system tray menu.

I use variety, but i am not sure if this is the cause or it is some
  gnome-shell bug or both.
