Thanks for your report.
I added the sources you mentioned on my Ubuntu 20.04 (not Kubuntu), and
can switch between them without problem, both via the <Super>+<Shift>
shortcut and the input source menu. So there is not much for us to work
on.
Can you please add some other Chinese input method, e.g. ibus-libpinyin,
and let us know if you can reproduce the problem with ibus 1.5.22 when
switching between "Intelligent Pinyin" and English.

Bug description:
ibus 1.5.22 freezes when switching input method. I have rime installed
in addition to my keyboard layout (US AltGr dead keys). When I try to
switch from rime to US Altgr, ibus freezes and input is not usable.
Downgrading 1.5.22 to 1.5.21 solves this issue.
