Title:
Once enabled on multiple displays, the dock won't return to only
"primary display"
Status in gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Relatively fresh install of 20.04 here.
I'm on an XPS 13 with "Intel Iris Plus Graphics (ICL GT2)" if that helps.
I have it connected to an external Dell monitor.
The two displays are joined. Fractional scaling is enabled: 200% on
the laptop display, 100% on the external monitor. The external
monitor is set to be the Primary Display.
Under Ubuntu's Settings/Appearance config screen, I went down to the
"Dock" settings.
I tried out a few different placements of the dock, on both screens vs
just the primary, tried changing the position, tried auto-hiding, etc
just to get a feel for how these settings might look.
Ultimately I decided that the defaults were the best, and wanted to
return the dock to the left-hand side of the Primary Display only.
While I could get the dock back into position on the left side of the
screen, I could not get it to disappear from the secondary display.
The "Show on" dropdown has no effect.
Appearing within the "Show on" drop down are three choices: "All
displays", "Built-in display", and "Dell Inc. 18"". No matter what I
select in this dropdown, the dock will now only ever appear on All
displays, all the time.
I'd like to return to the default behavior, with the dock only
appearing on the Primary Display.
