Title:
No sound, kmix indicates dummy output
Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
I've been regularly updating the alsa-driver package, and it appears
to be quite unstable. Each update behaves differently than the
previous one, it seems.
Here's what I have now, according to the Synaptic history:
linux-alsa-driver-modules-2.6.35-22-generic (2.6.35-22.201011071600)
to 2.6.35-22.201011111600
Now I get no sound at all and kmix indicates only a single playback
device: "dummy output". My sound chip is a VIA VT1708S, according to
alsamixer. I cannot find anything about how to change from a dummy
output to a real one. alsamixer shows nothing muted, and I get this
behavior whether Independent HP is on or off.
I'm running Kubuntu Meerkat on an Asus K60I laptop.
