[Dell Vostro 1400, STAC9228] No sound

Bug description:
I am using 12.04 from the date of release. Sound was there. Two weeks back
(approximately) the full volume of sound reduced considerably. After 3 days may
be some other updates, the sound vanished totally. I feel the speaker is OK. If
I increase the volume in preference to 150% a very low sound (like murmor) can
