Title:
[IDT 92HD71B7X] Playback problem
Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
I am using 10.04 on a Dell Inspiron 1750 laptop. Several hours ago I
ran a software update - it was a small one, just a security update
having to do with sudo. Nothing else was running, and when it finished
I turned the computer off and left for a few hours. When I turned the
computer back on I had no sound. Then I quickly began hearing the fan
run more than usual. I checked "System monitor" and saw that one cpu
was running at 100 percent. I tried to simply restart the computer but
it wouldn't let me - it just went to the login screen, even if I tried
to shutdown. Finally, I turned the computer off by just holding down
the power button. I turned it on again and got the bongos at the login
screen but no sound after that. The cpu was no longer running so high
and I can restart and shutdown normally, but still have no sound
beyond the login screen. I ran ubuntu-bug on the sound problem and
could hear the tones there but still can't get sound otherwise. I've
been running Ubuntu on here for almost a year and haven't had any of
these problems before. And I'm not a techie, btw.
