No sound on front audio panel

Bug description:
All works fine on win7 - so it is not a problem with cables, etc, ...
Under ubuntu 12.04
5.1 sound system works fine
buts...
no sound at front audio port
no mic detected at the back and front
Under 11.10 was similar but I had mic at the back.

I have read google about the problems similar.
I have try couple of solutions, unsuccessful (11.10).
I am quite fresh in linux and I do not know where to start.
It would be nice if someone could help me.
