https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/787465
I mark it as a duplicate of bug 787465 (there's more comments there).
There is also a solution provided: detecting global menu
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MenuBar#detecting) and disabling menu and
settings items if detected.

Title:
Global Menu: Terminal: View->Show Menubar toggle makes no sense
Status in GNOME Terminal:
Confirmed
Status in “gnome-terminal” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
When GNOME Terminal is running under Unity with global menu, the
option "View"->"Show Menubar" is still shown which doesn't make sense
(it makes no difference and is not necessarily applicable.
This is probably a Won't Fix for the moment as a solution would
require making Gnome Terminal aware of the environment that the
terminal is running under (more codepaths to test and debug).
