Public bug reported:
I recently installed Ubuntu focal. I understand that the current kernel
witch comes with it contains the open source drivers, radeon and amdgpu.
Although for some people it work out of the box for me that is not the
case.
VGA : ASUS R9 390 OC 8GB
Monitor: Benq xl2411 1080p 144 hz
Monitor: Generic 1080p 60hz
In detail immediately after installation i had about 5 min before screen
turns black. In the meanwhile i got intense screen tearing. Thinks got
even worse when i added a 2nd monitor.
I tried to find a workaround and i managed to get it at least to stay on
even with 144hz refresh rate using it alone or both of the monitors with
60hz using these kernel parameters in grub config.
radeon.cik_support=0 radeon.si_support=0 amdgpu.cik_support=1
amdgpu.si_support=1 amdgpu.dpm=1 amdgpu.dc=1
but I cannot use the 1st monitor with 144hz and the 2nd one with 60hz.
When i try to set the hertz higher on the first monitor thee second one
blacks out.
** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
