The crash occurs when I search the home dir for all files recursively by entering no text into the name field, and with extra option "Show hidden files" enabled. The result table was sorted by date (last column). Such a search does not always crash! Often it ends successfully and finds around 1000 files as expected. Currently I run a remastered 11.04 iso booted from a USB stick. To remaster I used uck-gui and applied all updates as of today. IMHO this is a pretty clean environment.
