and I copy my latest comment from there, because it seems quite relevant here. The hardware maintenance phase of 16.04 finished end Q1 2018. The release date of the Kingston SA400S37 ssd was Q1 2017. Therefore, the upstream decision from Debian maintainer, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/smartmontools/+bug/1858121 is within the bounds of the hardware maintenance phase. Accordingly, update-smart-drivedb should be reinstated, backported from 18.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1874371 Title: disks reports incorrect smart details Status in gnome-disk-utility package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: the menu-sentry "SMART Data & self-tests" reports attribute values that do not match the ssd specifications for a Kingston SA400S37 perhaps a hddtemp problem see also https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gsmartcontrol/+bug/1873546 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: gnome-disk-utility 3.18.3.1-1ubuntu1.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-96.97~16.04.1-generic 4.15.18 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-96-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.23 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Thu Apr 23 13:06:47 2020 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gnome-disks InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-12-30 (480 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20170801) SourcePackage: gnome-disk-utility UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-disk-utility/+bug/1874371/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
