Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all
reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since
that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some
of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently
supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly
upload the updated logs by running only once:

Title:
evince spams stderr with messages about "Allocating size to EvWindow"

Status in evince package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Open a PDF and search it, for instance for the letter 'e'. evince
prints numerous error messages to stderr of the form:

  (evince:30830): Gtk-WARNING **: Allocating size to EvWindow
  0x559a7c972f10 without calling
gtk_widget_get_preferred_width/height(). How does the code know the
  size to allocate?

The more common the search term, the more errors.

There is also always one similar error about EvSidebar every time
  evince starts.
