You have been subscribed to a public bug:

On one an HTC One M8 auto-mounts in gvfs with an "mtp://" location. On
the other (the computer used to report this bug) it mounts with a
"gphoto2://" location.

Pressing CTRL+L in Nautilus and entering the appropriate "mtp://"
location manually mounts the device correctly and it works just fine,
but leaves the "gphoto://" mounts in the left-hand panel.

"gphoto://" is not appropriate for this device and does not support
reading and writing of all file types.

I have another computer with 14.04 installed which mounts the phone with
an "mtp://" location automatically. I'm not sure why my other computer
is working but I don't remember doing anything to make it work and they
appear to have the same package versions installed for mtp and gvfs
packages - although I don't know if I checked them all as I'm not
familiar with which packages are used.
