The problem actually seems to occur with any video that contains transparent pixels. Here is for example a VP8-encoded fully transparent video with which I can reproduce the problem.
The video displays perfectly fine in vlc, mpv, and firefox (the transparent pixels are simply displayed in black). ** Attachment added: "transparent-vp8.webm" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/1893572/+attachment/5405893/+files/transparent-vp8.webm -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to totem in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1893572 Title: this webm video makes Totem's window flicker Status in totem package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The attached webm video causes rendering bugs on my desktop when opened with the Totem video player.
